Together we will With/Stand climate change

A Call-To-Action for a Climate-Ready Caribbean

We see optimism, we see hope, we see the future. We believe that everyone has the opportunity to help someone else.

How will we become climate-ready?

With purpose, and a community committed to working together. With strength, and the resources needed to fortify our islands. With love, and the support and generosity from our valued donors.

From the Bahamas to Barbados, Dominica to Turks and Caicos, our Caribbean family is strong and proud. We treasure our island nations and we’re committed to preserving them.

Rosalind Gittens

CLF is working with Principal Gittens at the Westbury Primary School to ensure that her school stays open after disasters for continued access to education. Getting students back in the classroom for learning as soon as possible is a priority. These schools, like Westbury, will become hardened shelters which can also serve as communication centers and centralized locations to deploy supplies in the event of a disaster.

We are working with Profamilia in the Dominican Republic to build model clinics that include building hardening, the installation of renewable energy, and disaster response staging areas so that medical professionals like Dr. Guzman can provide continuous care. CLF has also created pre and post-disaster health toolkits which include guides and checklists in multiple languages so that similar climate-resilient clinics can be built across the Caribbean.

Anderson Langdon

Wherever disaster strikes, health facilities are a critical component of emergency preparedness. We invest in organizations like the Barbados Family Planning Association (BFPA), led by Executive Director Anderson Langdon, so that they can be prepared to stay open during natural disasters and serve as sustainable disaster response hubs.
